The King of Fighters '96

For another year, SNK's flagship series returns. Many of this year's KOF upgrades are in the form of better graphics, sound effects, music, and completely redesigned character sprites. The system's gameplay has been updated with the addition of "Rush" multi-hit combos and new moves for nearly every character. The series' backstory is heavily emphasized in this release, with the Orochi Saga kicking into high gear.

The King of Fighters '96 features 27 ordinary characters as well as two boss characters (who can be unlocked with the use of a code). Additional features that have been carried over from the previous year include the ability to choose between the default "Team Fighting" mode and the conventional "Single Fighter" style of action, as well as the "Versus" and "Survival" modes.
