Discover Space

Discover Space is a fantastic desktop planetary software program by Broderbund, the creators of countless award-winning edutainment products such as the world-famous Where in [X] Is Carmen Sandiego? series.

Discover in Space is less of an instructional title or game and more of an application, in contrast to most of Broderbund's other applications. In essence, it allows you to see the night sky at any time of year and from any angle. Its accessibility to children sets it apart from shows like Dance of the Planets or, more recently, Red Shift. The databases of constellations that are provided are a fantastic addition, and the UI is fairly simple to use. The section on constellations includes a depiction of each constellation with its name as well as digestible background information on the legends and realities that gave rise to it.
