Starways

Starways uses a single central attractor, most likely a black hole and the stars that make up the galaxy's center, to approximate the attractive mass of the entire galaxy and then exerts gravity on all nearby stars from that point. Star masses are disregarded, allowing for extremely quick simulations that are interactive and run in real time. The end outcome of such a simulation has also shown star masses to be practically irrelevant; typically, increasing the effective masses of single stars only affects cluster formation. Such clusters almost seldom affect how the galaxies interact in the end, and they frequently have little bearing on an experiment that aims to mimic the geometries of known irregular galaxies.
