Lode Runner Description

Lode Runner, originally published by Brøderbund in 1983, is a classic puzzle video game that captivated players from the start. Its success led to an arcade conversion developed by Irem in 1984, featuring 24 remixed levels out of the game's original 150. The gameplay revolves around a stick figure protagonist tasked with collecting all the gold in each level while evading pursuing guards.

In this game, the formidable Bungeling Empire has seized a massive hoard of gold, and your mission is to infiltrate their treasury and reclaim what is rightfully theirs. To accomplish this, you must navigate through 150 screens filled with platforms, ladders, and ropes.

The Empire has deployed robotic guards to safeguard the stolen gold, and coming into contact with them will cost you a life. Your escape strategy involves digging holes in their path by pressing the fire button, causing them to momentarily fall in and granting you safe passage across the gap. Once all the gold has been collected, a ladder appears, enabling you to progress to the next screen. Completing these screens often requires meticulous planning and precise execution.

An outstanding feature of Lode Runner was its inclusion of a level editor, allowing players to design their own unique levels without the need for programming skills.
